alone and afraid
that they might return
to make her suffer again

Worse than before
her worst fears
get the best of her
They spiral her
down an alleyway
She returns to the place
her own hell
where they stole
every last crumb
of her dreams
her fantasies
her very sanity
...
Her eyes twitch
and a single tear
involuntarily drops
down her sullen face
She looks up
to see a fence that she
didn't recall protecting
anything before
...anyone...
All her demons come back
to see her perched
upon a rotting wooden crate
An angel appears glowing
from the vandalized wall
in front of the girl
"Where were you...
when I needed you most?"
She sat in silence
for a moment
and one moment only
"I needed help...
I received none..."
Waiting for what seemed
like an eternity
"I'm nothing but ugly now"
...
She gains a certain
light-headedness
Falling fiercely downward
soon caught by
the angel's soft robed lap
"Child..."
She pauses to look into
the now lifeless
hollow eyes of her
past life's cold carcass
...
